"Why" by Traxin is one of those records you rarely see available for sale, but only hear about in whispers and collector circles. The OG is up there on many radars and alerts so we're glad to see it resurfaced and reissued after 35 years. Recorded in 1985 originally under the Food, Clothes & Shelter label right at the period when reggae started going digital. The social commentary and conscious tune "Why" was produced by veteran arranger Dennis Fearon (aka 'Jah D') who was constantly updating studio equipment, enticing different sounds from instruments and singers giving mixes a roughness that enhanced the process rather than detracting from the precision of the analogue days. 'Jah D' is definitely no stranger when it comes to the foundation of Jamaican music. Often times we hear of musicians that paved the way for what the world has come to know and love as Reggae music, but this statement couldn't be more true when we speak of Jah D!
